MEET Heather

Hello -   Thank you so much for visiting!  I’d like to take a moment to tell you a little bit about myself and why I have decided to run for the School Board in District 308.  My husband and I have been residents of Montgomery for ten years.  We have two young children – our son who is in Kindergarten and our daughter who is two.  I have worked in the non-profit sector for the last fifteen years, working on behalf of vulnerable children and families.

I believe in our public education system, as well as the importance of volunteerism within our community.  I have seen the difference committed, caring adults can have in the lives of children.

I have dedicated my professional life to serving parents and their kids, and look forward to the opportunity in my personal life to continue this work.  I believe that parents and caregivers are their child’s first, and most important teacher, and strongest advocate.  Open and transparent communication between parents, school staff, administration, and the school board is key in achieving a healthy, rich educational setting for children.

My background in non-profit management, early childhood programming, advocacy work at the state and local level, and experience working collaboratively with individuals from varied disciplines will support my work on behalf of students in our district.  I believe the perspective I am bringing to the school board is unique and will add a valuable lens, in supporting the healthy growth and development of all children in our community.

Election day is Tuesday April 4...I hope I have your vote!
